1. Vietnam Logistics Forum 2024 in Ba Ria – Vung Tau

The Vietnam Logistics Forum 2024 took place on December 1-2, 2024, in Ba Ria – Vung Tau, with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attending the plenary session. Under the theme “Free Trade Zones – A Breakthrough Solution for Logistics Growth,” the forum emphasized Vietnam’s commitment to developing free trade zones, positioning the country as a logistics powerhouse to drive industrialization and modernization.

Prime Minister Chinh highlighted Vietnam’s logistics achievements but also pointed out challenges such as high logistics costs, underdeveloped infrastructure, and a lack of skilled workforce. He outlined three key objectives and seven strategic tasks for the industry’s growth.

The forum also featured specialized workshops and an on-site visit to Gemalink International Port, providing networking and business expansion opportunities for enterprises.

2. Approval of the North-South High-Speed Railway Investment Project

On November 30, 2024, the National Assembly approved the investment policy for the North-South High-Speed Railway, spanning 1,541 km from Ngoc Hoi Station (Hanoi) to Thu Thiem Station (Ho Chi Minh City), passing through 20 provinces.

The project features: Dual-track railway (1,435 mm gauge) with a design speed of 350 km/h, 23 passenger stations and 5 freight stations, Multi-purpose use for passenger and freight transport, Modern electrified rail technology

The facility: Supports customs clearance and e-commerce trade between Vietnam and China, Uses AI & IoT for smart warehouse and transport management, Processes up to 1,500 trucks/day, doubling Lang Son’s customs clearance capacity

9. Establishment of Ba Ria – Vung Tau Logistics & Port Association

On December 2, 2024, during the Vietnam Logistics Forum, Ba Ria – Vung Tau officially launched its Logistics & Port Association. This marks the 5th regional logistics association in Vietnam, following Binh Duong, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, and Hanoi.
